Privacy Policy
Last updated 21 September 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Godric Li ("Parallax," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use the Parallax browser extension and related services (the "Service").
1. Information We Collect
Account information: email address, and if you sign in with Google, basic profile information (name, email) provided by Google OAuth.
Usage and research data: research sessions, chat threads, and the questions you ask.
Page content you direct Parallax to read: the text of a page you are viewing, sent to us and to our AI model providers when you run research on that page, quote a selection from it, attach it to a message, or refer to it in a question. If the page you direct Parallax at is one that is private to you — an open email, for example — then that content is what is read and sent.
Browsing activity during a proactive research session: proactive research is not on by default. It runs only while you have started a session and have not stopped it. For as long as a session is running:
- we record the title, URL and, for search engines, the search terms of pages you visit in that browser, as the activity trail of that session; and
- Parallax may read the text of a page you appear to be reading, in order to judge whether it is relevant to what you are researching.
This trail is stored with the session, is shown to you in that session's activity log, and stops being collected when you stop the session. Outside a running proactive session, Parallax does not record your browsing and does not read page content unless you ask it to.
Persistent memory data (where enabled): a limited set of recurring topics, stated preferences, and corrections you provide, used to give Parallax continuity across sessions. This is stored separately from raw conversation history and is visible and deletable by you in Settings.
Payment information: if you subscribe to a paid plan, payment is processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card number; Stripe provides us only with limited billing metadata (such as subscription status) necessary to manage your account.
Technical/usage metering data: logs of feature usage necessary to enforce usage limits (e.g., research runs per month, session cost caps) and to maintain and improve the Service.
2. How We Use Information
We use collected information to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the Service;
- Authenticate your account and secure access to your data;
- Process payments and manage subscriptions;
- Improve the accuracy and relevance of research, verification, and proactive suggestions;
- Enforce usage limits and prevent abuse;
- Communicate with you about your account, service changes, or support requests.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
3. How Information Is Shared
We share information only with:
- Service providers who process data on our behalf to operate the Service, including Supabase (authentication and database hosting), Stripe (payment processing), Render (application hosting), Mailgun (transactional email delivery), and one or more AI model providers used to generate research, chat, and verification output.
- Legal compliance: where required to comply with applicable law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Parallax, our users, or others.
Content you ask Parallax to research or read (such as page text or your questions) may be sent to third-party AI model providers and, where relevant, to search providers, solely to generate a response to your request.
4. Data Security
We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), row-level access controls on stored data ensuring your data is only accessible to your own account, and secure credential storage. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of information transmitted to or stored by the Service.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
We retain your account and research data for as long as your account is active. You may delete individual memory items in Settings, or request deletion of your entire account and associated data by contacting us at gl@plxai.dev. Some information may be retained where required for legal, billing, or security purposes.
6. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at gl@plxai.dev.
If you are located in Australia, you may also have rights under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and, in the event of an eligible data breach, we will notify affected individuals in accordance with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme where required.
7. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed at children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without appropriate consent, we will take steps to delete that information.
8. International Data Transfers
Our service providers may process and store data outside your country of residence, including in the United States. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer, in accordance with applicable law.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified to active users by email or in-app notice with reasonable advance notice before they take effect.
